Haiti’s 2010 Election – Fraudulent or Intentional!

Tiny Haiti rests in Caribbean waters less than 800 kilometers from North America. But it is light years away from its amenities, opportunities and standard of living it is all due to greedy politicians who refuses to allow the country the opportunity to progress. Definitely, 2010 has been a curse for Haiti’s 206th year of independence from slavery. First they suffer from the devastating January 12th earthquake, the failure of reconstruction, broken promises, forgotten cholera epidemic, the UN stalemate, Hurricane Tomas, failed states and constitutional coup. To complete the apocalyptic picture, Haiti is once again sucked into the tragic result of a fraudulent election, endorsed and funded by the international community and, moreover, organized in an obituary and funeral décor. What a challenge for the poor people of Haiti! Let’s not forget the stalemate and the dismal failure of United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), after six years of presence in Haiti. This is, obviously, the Waterloo West Indian Nations, which has already engulfed and wiped millions since 1994 no fewer than five very dismal failures.
Launched with great expectations as the world's first independent black republic, unyoked from French rule two centuries ago, it has become a land of diminishing returns where corruption, brutality and horrific natural disasters have robbed many of its 10 million people of hope. Before this, other countries chose the Presidents for Haitians, including Aristide and Preval in 2002 in 2005. After the chaos and the failed politic of the MINUSTAH, now the UN takes a back sit and is now watching the country destroying itself on CNN.
These instances are bringing more and more disgust to the Caribbean nation. Can they ever do anything right? The January 12th earthquake happened; an estimated three million people were affected by the quake; the Haitian government reported that an estimated 230,000 people had died, 300,000 had been injured and 1,000,000 made homeless. They also estimated that 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were severely damaged, the Haitian government lost it, they were not able to provide adequate care for the survivors, and indeed they were blamed!
Then hurricane Tomas hit Haiti, which created more disaster on the Caribbean nation. As if what the country had been through was not enough, then in October an outbreak of cholera was confirmed in Haiti. Cholera had not been documented in Haiti for decades so cholera outbreaks were considered unlikely in Haiti immediately following the earthquake in January, 2010. During the outbreak thousands of people lost their lives, simply due to the country’s unlimited resources, the UN peacekeepers were blamed for the cholera outbreak.
Of course everyone has an opinion about the country’s misfortune. Some have said that the country is doomed to be poor; the country will never recover, the country is in hell because they made a pact with the devil. None of these people have not visited the country nor do they know of its true history. Blaming is easy, however; helping is another aspect. There are many ways one can help a country grow: Donate, volunteer, invest, support its mission, work in the country, and if these options are not appealing – Prayers will help also.
